HKNGIS Technical Seminar

Gazing through the Crystal Ball: Cyber Security 2017 - Predicting the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

As a continuing effort to promote the development and experience sharing of Next Generation Internet technologies and applications in Hong Kong, HKNGIS (the Hong Kong Next Generation Internet Society) is pleased to co-organize with IT Services, The University of Hong Kong (“HKU”), a technical seminar with the theme “ Gazing through the Crystal Ball: Cyber Security 2017 – Predicting the Good, the Bad and the Ugly” to be held in the afternoon of January 13, 2017 (Friday) in the Centennial Campus, HKU.

With the rapid advancement of technology, there are vast opportunities for innovations in society and people’s lifestyle in recent years. But the threats of cyber-crimes are also greatly on the rise and moving faster than we can keep up with. HKNGIS organizes this technical seminar to provide an opportunity for those who work in the related areas to take stock of what the experts see as the issues in cyber security in the coming year. Targeting IT professionals, practitioners and management delegates in Hong Kong, the expert speakers are invited to share their reviews of the cyber security issues and solutions in 2016 and to provide their expert advice on what to anticipate and prepare for 2017 relating to the challenging threats of cyber security, particularly in the face of escalating deployment of emerging technologies in Internet of Things, Smart Cities, Fintech, etc.

The Hong Kong Next Generation Internet Society ( HKNGIS ) has been incorporated since January 2009 as a non-profit professional body with the primary objective of promoting the development and use of the Next Generation Internet in Hong Kong.

The mission of HKNGIS is to promote the Next-Generation-Internet (NGI) development in Hong Kong by providing a forum for the dissemination and appreciation of technical information relating to NGI and the sharing of experience in developing NGI infrastructure and applications for the benefit of the members of the Association and the general public.
