Hyper-Connect to the Future

Technical Seminar

As a continuing effort to promote the development of Next Generation Internet technologies and applications, the Hong Kong Next Generation Internet Society (HKNGIS) is pleased to announce the organization of a Technical Seminar with the theme on “ Hyper-Connect to the Future ”, to be held on April 17, 2015 at the Cliftons, Hutchison House, Hong Kong.

Data traffic has experienced tremendous growth over the past couple of years and the trend is expected to continue as mobile broadband becoming more affordable and the number of connected devices starting to grow. The future will be a hyper-connected age and this has triggered the development of new networking technologies and designs to enable innovative applications and services. In this technical seminar, some important emerging technologies will be discussed, such as:

    - The status of Fifth Generation (5G) cellular communications system in Korea and other key players in the region/world
    - Emerging paradigms, such as Cloudification, Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV)
    - Internet of Things (IoT) and the applications
    - Vision on the potential applications, services, societal/economy benefits, markets, etc.

The Honorable Nicholas Yang, Executive Councillor and CE's Advsior on Innovation and Technology has been invited to deliver the Opening Address, while Professor Youngnam Han of KAIST Department of Electrical Engineering (also known as Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and Chair of Korea 5G Forum Steering Committee will be the Keynote Speaker for this "Hyper-Connect to the Future" technical seminar event, to share with us the vision of 5G development in Korea. We have also invited speakers from Brocade, Fortinet, Roctec and Cisco to discuss SDN technologies, security issues in hyper-connected cloud and IOT applications.
