HKNGIS members visited H3C office on 30 Dec 2009

In order to increase our members’ understanding on what local IT companies are working on Next Generation Internet technologies NGI, members of HKNGIS had paid a visit to the new office of H3C Technologies Co., Limited at Times Square, Causeway Bay, on Dec 30, 2009. H3C is an innovative IP-based network architecture solutions provider that aims to create maximum value for its global customers and partners by providing excellent service and quality products with a high performance to cost ratio.

HKNGIS members were welcomed by Mr Davis Hui, General Manager, and Mr David Wong, Sales Manager, H3C Hong Kong and Macau. Mr Penny Gao, Product Director of H3C, then gave a presentation on two IPv6 applications that H3C had been undertaking, one related to the Olympic Park Lighting System used in the Olympic stadium in Beijing, China, during the Olympic games held in September 2008. The other application was related to the deployment of H3C network equipment in CERNET 2, the next generation network of the China Education and Research Network.

The attendants were highly impressed with the presentation and took active participation in sharing their views towards how to catalyze the next generation Internet development in HK. After a tea break, H3C also demonstrated their latest technology on the Intelligent Resilient Framework 2 for highly resilient core network which was successfully demonstrated before the eyes of the participant. Highly reliable network should obviously be a very important element of the next generation networks.
